Out of the 67 criteria, there are a lot that don’t apply to your accommodation. No staff means no staff training, no swimming pool means no swimming pool criteria. The profile check asks this once, instead of letting you scroll through dozens of questions that you have to close with “not applicable.”
Where to find it
- Open Certification and choose your accommodation.
- At the top of the dashboard is the Profile check card.
- Click on Start or Tell us briefly about your accommodation.
The seven questions
| Question | What a “no” does |
|---|---|
| Do you employ staff? | Criteria about staff training and social benefits are removed as optional work. |
| Do you serve meals or drinks to guests (breakfast counts)? | Criteria about food, kitchen, and kitchen waste are removed. |
| Is there a swimming pool? | The swimming pool criteria are removed. A swimming pond does not count as a swimming pool here. |
| Is there air conditioning? | The cooling criteria are removed. |
| Is there a garden or outdoor space that you manage? | Criteria about garden maintenance, watering, and pesticides are removed. |
| Do you heat with wood or pellets? | The criteria about solid fuel are removed. |
| Are there electric hand dryers in the sanitary areas? | Criterion 36 is removed. |
The module deduces some things itself and doesn’t ask them. A B&B serves breakfast according to the Accommodation Decree, so that is already checked. If you have fewer than fifteen rooms, we skip criteria 23 and 24: EMAS and ISO 14001 are practically only feasible for larger organizations.
What the check doesn’t do
Mandatory criteria always remain. Only optional criteria are skipped. If you have no staff, the mandatory criterion about it does not disappear — you answer it, if necessary with “no staff” as an explanation. That is exactly what an inspector wants to see: an answer, not a gap.
Absence is never certain. Just because you don’t have gas in your measurement data doesn’t mean you don’t use gas. That’s why we ask it instead of concluding it.
Review
The check is a single moment of confirmation, not a lock. If something changes — you hire staff, you install a pool — then you adjust the check and those criteria return. In the wizard, a skipped criterion shows a message with the reason and a button to show them anyway, so you’re never stuck with an answer the module came up with for you.
