Your first session doesn’t have to take long. In about an hour, you’ll have a profile, an initial overview of where you stand, and one theme completed. The file itself spans weeks, not just one evening.
Where to find it
- Open Certification in the menu.
- Choose the accommodation at the top for which you want a label.
- You’ll arrive at the dashboard for that accommodation.
If your process isn’t open yet, you’ll see an explanation instead of the dashboard with the button Request guidance. See Access to the process.
The first session
| Step | Duration | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 min | Profile check completion: seven yes-or-no questions about your accommodation. This immediately removes criteria that don’t apply to you. |
| 2 | 5 min | Accept Autofill: if a published year is in your footprint, then energy, CO₂, renewables, and water are ready. |
| 3 | 10 min | Gather documents: drop what you already have into the document file — EPC, inspection certificates, invoices, your cleaning contract. The module reads them and suggests them for criteria. |
| 4 | 25 min | Complete one theme in the wizard. Start with General management: seven criteria, many template texts, little technical detail. |
| 5 | 5 min | Back to the dashboard and see where you stand. |
What you’re starting
Don’t start with Energy & CO₂. That’s the largest theme (21 criteria) and the most technical. General management and Guests & communication together are nine criteria, mostly policy and information, and most text suggestions are ready there.
If you don’t have a footprint for this accommodation yet, do that first. Not because you have to, but because a lot of criteria regarding energy and water will then be filled in automatically. Without a footprint, you fill them in manually.
What not to do in the first session
- Don’t set everything to yes just to move forward. No is a valid answer, and a false yes will come to light during the on-site inspection.
- Don’t generate a submission package yet. That’s the final step; the form builds on your answers.
- Don’t wait until you have everything. A half-completed file is useful: the dashboard shows what’s still needed.
